Father Mark NaborsSt. Luke's Episcopal Church Rector

Rector's Welcome

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me; do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them. (Mark 10:14-16)

Children have a special place in the heart of Jesus. Jesus calls us to be like children ourselves, trusting our God and Father for all that we need, believing that we are safe under the gaze of heaven. It is appropriate, then, that children should have a special place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church as we strive to be more like our Lord and Savior.

For decades, St. Luke’s Episcopal Day School has been a leader in early childhood education. Informed by the values of The Episcopal Church, we at the Day School strive to give our students a well rounded education. Our teachers and enrichment staff are committed to helping our children discover their creative potential, which must be the foundation for all future learning. We trust that our students will not only grow while they are with us, but that they will be academically prepared for wherever they continue their education.

But even more important than that, our Day School is committed to making sure that each child knows he or she is loved by the God of the Universe. They are, indeed, the lambs of God’s own fold. Whether in chapel, in the classroom, or on the playground, it is my prayer that they will feel the love of Jesus just as those children that surrounded Jesus during his earthly ministry. I pray that blessing will never leave them.
