Who We Are
Our curriculum provides the unifying structure by which each school division of St. Luke’s School achieves its academic objectives.
Yearly reviews ensure that curriculum flows logically through each grade.
Integrated within each discipline are the core values that mark our uniqueness as a school. Also integrated are the technologies, research tools, and processes that students will master as they participate as learners throughout each curricular area. Additionally, since knowledge is not isolated within a subject area or discipline, the curriculum teams emphasize ideas, skills, and concepts taught across the curriculum.
Early Childhood Programs
The curriculum of the Early Childhood Program is created for the early learning years of three to six years old. It is an introduction of developmental and sequential skills to provide the building blocks of basic readiness in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. Pre-K Early Literacy Learning in Arkansas (Pre-K ELLA) is the foundation of our Pre-K and Jr.-K curriculum.
Curriculum is individualized. Teachers are able to diagnose the particular needs and interests of each student.
Curriculum is developmental. Teachers in the Early Childhood Program are experts in the area of early childhood education and appreciate the readiness of each child in their first years at school.
Curriculum is sequential. Programs are used to insure that students learn in a developmentally appropriate, sequential way to build understanding.
Curriculum is motivating. Thematic units motivate students and draw on their interests in a wide range of topics including weather, animals, cultures and many others.
